Michael Labbe-Webb - Master Blacksmith and Glass Smith
Promoting world peace through Fearless Art, Meaningful Education and Ethical Business.
Michael has been blacksmithing since 1976 and blowing glass since 2009. In addition, to his iron and glass work, Michael utilizes a variety of other media making carvings in antler, bone, horn & shell and sculpture in mixed media. The subjects of Michael’s art range from the traditional and practical to very modern, conversation stimulating pieces inspired from the found objects they are built of.
Michael is originally from Pine Bluff, Arkansas but spent over 30 years in Ohio before moving to the Atlanta area. He studied various subjects including art at both the University of Arkansas at Monticello, Arkansas and at Ohio University in Lancaster, Ohio but his Bachelor’s degree is in Sociology from the University of New York State, Albany, New York. Michael was the last Master Blacksmith with Stone Mountain Park before the change in venue closed the blacksmith shop. He still occasionally does demonstrations of blacksmithing and glass blowing for the park.
Michael’s work has been collected internationally and you can see his current collection at the Ironhawk Forge studio and gallery at the Center Town Gallery, 951B Main Street, Stone Mountain, Ga 30083.
